The School of Information and Communication (hereinafter referred to as the college) is composed of the relevant faculties of the former School of Electronics Engineering and Communication established in 2011 and it is the core strength of “double high-level plan” of the nation, the backbone universities of the nation, “the first-rank universities” and demonstrative universities of the province, as well as the construction of key majors and brand majors of advance professional education intheprovince.

The college connects to the mainstay industry of IT in Shenzhen, and it has the feature of IT+AI faculty and has four majors on information: applied technology of the things of Internet, modern communication technology, modern mobile communication technology, and intelligent technology for automobile; it practices the talent cultivation mode of “the industry, enterprises and the college cultivate the students altogether, and the courses, certificates and posts are integrated” to cultivate excellent ICT engineers. The college practices multi-level education and it has operated the undergraduate major of communication engineering and things of Internet engineering with Wuyi University, and it has enrolled more than 200 undergraduate students. Currently there are 1571 students at school and 3630 students have graduated here and worked in all fields of society. The college has one high-level major group of “double high-level plan” of the nation, one key major of the nation, one province- level demonstrative major, one province-level primary brand major, one province-level key major and one province-level teaching resource library.

The college has abundant qualified teachers; it owns 50 teaching staffs now, and among 33 full-time teachers, there are2professors, 16 associated professors (including advanced engineers and associate research fellows), in which there are 30 doctors and post-doctors. The college has one famous teacher in the national plan of special support of high-level talents, one province-level teaching group, one elite teacher of “special support plan” of Guangdong Province, one excellent teacher of Guangdong, one specially-appointed professor (“Zhujiang River Scholar”) of Guangdong Province. The collegehasconducted the work of 3 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 32 projects of scientific research of province and urban-level, and the sum of scientific research funds to the account is over 17 million Yuan. It has obtained one second prize of national teaching achievements, one first prize and two second prizes of the teaching achievements in Guangdong Province; the college possesses 11 authorized patents of invention and 16 patents of utilitymodel.

Huawei ICT College is established in this college and it has obtained the honor title of “excellent Huawei ICT college” for three consecutive years; there are 17 teachers in the college who have obtained Huawei HCIE Expert Certificate (and it ranks the first in the universities of China); more than 2000 students have passed serial certification of Huawei and a batch of excellent engineers have been thus cultivated for the development of ICT industry inShenzhen.

The college now has one province-level training base for advanced professional education, two province-level ex-school practice and teaching bases for university students, 5 ex-school public training bases for advanced professional education in Shenzhen, and 62 enterprises cooperating with the college. The college now has 36 specialized training rooms with the construction area of more than 6000 sqm and the total assets value of the equipment of more than 37 million Yuan.

This college insists individualized teaching, development with prominent features and improving learning and teaching with contests. The students have been awarded with 6 first prizes in national professional contests and 64 province-level second prizes. Chen Zibin and Huang Qingyun in this college have obtained the first prize in National Professional Skill Contest (5G network construction) in May, 2021.
