School Profile

The School of Electronics and Communication (hereinafter referred to as the School of EC) is the core strength for the construction of the Institute's national backbone school, provincial model school, provincial first-class school, provincial tertiary vocational school key major and provincial brand specialty. It now has set up 6 majors: Communication Technology, Mobile Communication Technology, Microelectronics Technology, Electronics Technology Application, Electronics Information Engineering and Photoelectric Technology Application, covering the two specialty groups of communication and electronics. At present, there are 1,790 students at the school. Till now, it has 4,610 graduates.

The school currently has 68 faculty members, among which there are 51 full-time teachers, 5 professors and 30 associate professors (including senior engineers and associate research fellows). There are 39 of the teachers have doctoral degree, which quanity ranks first in the Institute. The school now has 1 national “Ten Thousand Persons Plan” renowned teacher, 2 provincial renowned teachers, 2 “ Pearl River Scholar” specially recruited professors, 9 provincial scientific special commissioners, 16 evaluation staff for verification of professional technical ability, as well as 1 institute-level scientific innovation team, 1 provincial excellent teaching team, and 3 institute-level excellent teaching teams. During the recent three years the faculty of the school have applied for 11 invention patents, acquired nine utility model patents, published over 60 academic papers, and acquired 4 NSFC projects, 6 projects of Guangdong Natural Science Foundation, 9 projects of Shenzhen Technology Plan, and over 20 corporate crosswise projects. The school has built 1 state-level good-quality resource shared course and 2 provincial good-quality resource shared courses.

The School of Electronics and Communication now has 34 professional practical training rooms, with over 10,000 square meters building area and over 35 million yuan equipment asset. It possesses 3 institute-level key laboratories, 1 institute-level model training base, and 1 provincial higher vocational education training base. The communication specialty group, with “all distance and all network” as the main line, has built an enterprise-level training base possessing a backbone communication network covering links such as connection, transmission, data, and exchange; the electronics specialty group, with modern electronic engineering as the main line, has built an enterprise-level training base covering chip-level, plate-level, and system-level applications. And the school has also built over 20 external training bases together with corporations such as China Unicom, ZTE, China Mobile, China Telecom, HUAWEI, and China Telling, as well as 1 provincial higher vocational education off-campus practice and teaching base and 3 Shenzhen vocational college off-campus public training bases.

The School of Electronics and Communication has cultivated good-quality graduates with high social recognition and achieved over 98% employment rate. The graduates are widely found in China Unicom, ZTE, China Telecom, HUAWEI, Shenzhen Subway, as well as major banks, financial institutions, and large and medium-sized telecommunication enterprises.

1Communication Technology

[Educational Objectives] This major aims to cultivate good-quality technical talents who have firm ideological and political stance, possess good vocational morals and culture, master the basic knowledge and core technique of the specialty, orient such areas as information system integration service, information system consultation service, communication equipment maintenance, and communication project building  and are capable of practicing such work as communication network operation and maintenance, engineering design, construction, project management, operation and maintenance, terminal maintenance, technical support and equipment sales.

Enterprise Network Design and Operation and Maintenance: modern communication systems, digital communication technologies, computer network technologies, optical fiber communication technologies, routing and switching, communication equipment debugging, communication equipment diagnostics, call center establishment and operation, enterprise network establishment and operation, smart metropolitan area network technology, network security and optimization, HUAWEI HCNA test, information communication network operation administrator certificate test, call center operations, transmission network installation and configuration, HUAWEI HCNP test, smart metropolitan area network deployment and application.

Communication Engineering Design and Management: modern communication systems, digital communication technologies, computer network technologies, optical communication technology, routing and switching, communication equipment debugging, communication equipment diagnostics, smart metropolitan area network technology, communication engineering budget estimate, engineering project management, project survey and design, communication line construction and maintenance, C51 single chip application training, HUAWEI HCNA test, information communication network lineman certificate test, project budget estimate practice, engineering survey and design practice, transmission network installation and configuration practice, etc..

[Employment Prospects] Graduates mainly work in the fields of information system integration service, information system consulting service, telecom equipment maintenance and telecom engineering and construction. Graduates can work as corporate network operation and maintenance assistant engineers, program control exchange operation and maintenance staff, transmission equipment operation and maintenance staff, communication system replacement maintenance assistant engineers, communication project supervisors, communication project management staff, communication terminal detection and maintenance staff and communication product marketing staff.

[Additional Information] This major develops talents for the enterprise network design, operation and maintenance and the communication engineering design and management, which are the two telecom fields in urgent need of talents. After completing the first school year of learning, the students can select the training directions in which they are interested and then do core courses module learning, and they can also select the core courses in mobile communication network optimization direction and mobile intelligence terminal and application direction of the mobile communication major. This major is among the first group of majors that were established right after the Institute was founded, and it is a state-level backbone school key construction major and a provincial model major. For this major there are now 13 full-time teachers, including 10 doctors, 1 professor, 6 persons of associate senior title, 4 examiners for vocational skill verification, 2 provincial technology commissioners, and 1 “Pearl River Scholar” specially recruited professor. The teaching team has strong scientific research capability and has won 2 NSFC projects and 6 projects of Guangdong Natural Science Foundation. The employment rate of the graduates has been kept at over 98%.

2Mobile Communication Technology

[Educational Objectives] This major aims to cultivate good-quality technical talents who have firm ideological and political stance, meet the development demand of the telecommunication and internet industries in Shenzhen and Pearl River delta area, possess the vocational qualities in telecommunication operation, network improvement, marketing service, and terminal maintenance and development, master core techniques for telecommunication posts, and are capable of practicing mobile communication system base station installation and maintenance, network planning and optimization, telecommunication product marketing, and mobile terminal maintenance and development.

Mobile Communication Network Optimization: mobile communication technology, digital communication technology, computer network technology, base station survey and design, base station installation and maintenance, communication network optimization, wisdom metropolitan area network technology, trunk communication system, mobile internet business, base station survey practice, HUAWEI LTE accreditation practice, base station data configuration practice, information communication network operator accreditation practice, and trunk communication system testing practice.

Mobile Intelligence Terminal and Application: mobile communication technology, digital communication technology, computer network technology, Android APP development, mobile phone testing and maintenance, mobile interconnection technology application, mobile internet business, chip-level detection maintenance and data recovery, java program design, wisdom metropolitan area network technology, data recovery practice, HUAWEI LTE accreditation practice, Android APP development, Android small system development practice, user communication terminal maintenance worker certificate application exam practice, and mobile interconnection system practice.

[Employment Prospects] In China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom and other mobile communication enterprises, graduates may practice such work as mobile communication system base station installation and maintenance, mobile communication network planning and optimization, mobile terminal testing and maintenance, telecommunication business marketing, service, and after-sale technical support.In mobile communication project and operation enterprises, banks, securities companies, subway, and other related organizations, graduates may practice such work as mobile communication project operation and maintenance and mobile communication system creation.

[Additional Information] This major focuses on the mobile communication network optimization and the intelligent mobile terminal and application. After completing the first school year of learning, the students can select the directions in which they are interested and do core course module learning and can also select the core courses in the directions of corporate network design and operation & maintenance and communication project design and management of the communication technology major.

This major is among Guangdong’s first group of higher vocational education key building majors, with 1 state-level good-quality course and 1 provincial good-quality course. Our school is also a higher vocational education training base of Guangdong - a training base for the major of mobile communication technology. For this major there are 8 full-time teachers, including 1 post-doctor, 6 doctors, 1 professor, 5 persons of associate senior title, 1 technician, 3 evaluators for verification of vocational skill, 2 technology commissioners of Guangdong, 1 state “Ten Thousand Persons Plan” renowned teacher, and 1 provincial renowned teacher award winner. 3. Microelectronic Technology

[Educational Objectives]This major aims to cultivate good-quality technical talents who have firm ideological and political stance, possess good vocational morals and culture, engage in study and training in such areas as microelectronic technique, intelligent chip design, integration circuit test technique, sensor application technique, and intelligent chip application, master microelectronic theoretical level and practical level, and are capable of practicing intelligent chip design and application.

[Main Courses]Circuit analysis, simulation electronic technique, digital electronic technique, semi-conductor technology and device, intelligent chip application, sensor application technology, hardware description language, integration circuit test technology, integration circuit layout design, and chip design CAD.

[Employment Prospects] The graduates of this major are apt to practice chip design and test & verification in intelligent chip design companies; practice intelligent product hardware design and applied hardware development and product test in intelligent product design companies; practice chip packaging and its testing and quality detection in chip packaging and testing companies; practice technical support and sales of electronic products and chips.

[Additional Information]With robust development of artificial intelligence, intelligent product and internet of things, there has been a rapid development of integrated circuit design industry and intelligent product design industry in Shenzhen and the integrated circuit design industry in Guangdong occupies 1/3 of the nationwide integrated circuit design industry. About this major, our school has signed cooperation agreements with Shenzhen integration circuit design industrialized base, Shenzhen Linengwei Microelectronic Limited Company, Shenzhen Leaguer Microelectronic Corp., Ltd., Shenzhen Founder Microelectronics and other integration circuit design and production & test companies. Over 30 off-campus training bases have been established, which provide a large number of internship and employment units for the graduates each year. This major has cultivated a group of excellent students whose salaries have reached 7000 yuan after half-year working and these students have become the technical cadres of many well-known microelectronic enterprises in Shenzhen.

4. Applied Electronic Technology (Intelligent Product Development Direction)

[Educational Objectives]This major aims to cultivate good-quality innovative technical talents who have firm ideological and political stance, possess good vocational morals and culture, have team cooperation spirit, innovation consciousness and sustainable development capability, gain intelligent electronic product development and design capability, acquire intelligent electronic product installation, testing, application, and maintenance capability, master modern apparatus and meter adjustment and application capability, and possess the capability of doing project planning, implementation, and technical integration with modern information technology composite application.

[Main Courses]Programming (C language), electronic technology, computer network technology, sensor technology, electronic circuit board design (PCB design and making), electronic product development and making, single chip processor application and development, intelligent product application and development, electronic product testing technique, and innovation and business starting education.

[Employment Prospects] This major orients many areas including modern communication, intelligent dressing intelligent home, security and monitoring intelligent building, automatic control, internet of things, and new energy technology  and involves such work as intelligent product development, product assembly, detection, and maintenance, and electronic product marketing and technical support in electronic information enterprises.

[Additional Information]This major is one of the key and brand majors of the Institute. This major enjoys high employment rate and enterprise corresponding rate and provides salaries that are far higher than other majors for the graduates. With enrollment scale increasing year by year, the students of the applied electronics major win the most of the awards in annual vocational skill contest. Up to now, they have won 5 national, provincial and ministerial First Prizes and 10 Second Prizes, as well as many prizes of other items. The major construction concept combining industry, education and research has cultivated craftsmen with good quality and high skills and the graduates have won wide recognition and praise of the society.

5. Electronic Information Engineering Technology (Internet of Things Application Technology direction)

[Educational Objectives] This major aims to cultivate good-quality technical talents who have firm ideological and political stance, achieve all-round development with virtues and techniques, meet the electronic information industry demands in Shenzhen and Pearl River delta area, possess good vocational morals and culture with internet of things application and development and system integration and operation & maintenance as the core, possess the post quality of internet of things applied technology engineers, and are capable of practicing internet of things application & development, system integration and operation, and product marketing and technical support in such areas as unmanned driving, internet of cars, intelligent home, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent agriculture, intelligent medicine, and intelligent city construction.

[Main Courses] Programming (C language), computer internet technology, single chip processor application and development, ARM application and development, internet of things technology and application, sensor technology and application, RFID technology and application, robot vision, unmanned driving, electronic product design and manufacturing, and electronic product marketing.

[Employment Prospects] Graduates can conduct the Internet of Things technology-related work such as engineering, application development, system integration, operation and maintenance and technical support in the fields of unpiloted driving, Internet of cars, smart home, smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, smart medical care and smart urban construction. They can also conduct electronic product development, production management and product testing and provide marketing and after-sales services at the IoT product manufacturers and marketing enterprises. They can also conduct the application development as well as system operation, maintenance and management of smart IoT products at enterprises and institutions such as banks, securities companies, rail transit and security companies.

[Additional Information] This major is among the first group of “three-two segmentation” trial reform majors of the Institute and it is also a provincial model school key building major of the Institute. This major now has 7 full-time teachers, including 1 post-doctor, 6 doctors, 4 persons of associate senior title, 2 evaluators for vocational skill verification, and 2 Guangdong technology commissioners. The teachers have undertaken a NSFC project. The employment rate of over 98% of the graduates has been kept.

6. Photoelectric Technology Application (Intelligent Illumination and Display direction)

[Educational Objectives]This major aims to cultivate good-quality innovative technical talents who have firm ideological and political stance, meet the development demands of photoelectric industry in Shenzhen and Pearl River delta area, possess good vocational morals and culture with design, production, marketing, and maintenance of intelligent lighting and display products as the core, possess photoelectron basic knowledge and the post quality of intelligent lighting and display design and application engineers, and master such capabilities as design, production, application, project installation and maintenance, operation and management, and market promotion of LED intelligent illumination and display project.

[Main Courses] Photoelectron technology basis, electric light source technology, LED display screen technology, electronic engineering drawing, intelligent LED light source and lamps, landscape illumination design and construction, LED manufacturing and application technology, LED color-changing light design, package and testing practice, and intelligent illumination project composite training.

[Employment Prospects] Practicing optical design, structural design, thermal design, and circuit design of intelligent LED illumination and display products in such well-known photoelectron companies as TCL, Cree, Philips, BYD, CSOT, Chou Ming Technology, Leyard, and Lehman; practicing such work as development, production management, testing, detection, and accreditation in intelligent lighting and display product manufacturing enterprises; practicing market promotion and applied program planning of intelligent illumination and display products.

[Additional Information] It is known that China leads the global LED industry and Shenzhen leads the Chinese LED industry and Shenzhen is the center of the global LED industry. This major is a characteristic major of the strategic rising industry of Pearl River delta area, participated in the state teaching resources pool project of Chinese Ministry of Education. This major has a strong faculty, including 2 professors, 2 Pearl River scholars, 1 Liaocheng scholar, 1 Huang Yanpei vocational education Excellent Teacher award winner, 1 Guangdong model worker, 1 talent from provincial cultivation targets of Guangdong “Thousand, Hundred, and Ten” Talent Project, 2 talents from Guangdong higher education school excellent youth teacher cultivation targets, 4 evaluators for state vocational skill verification, and 1 Guangdong technology commissioner. The faculty of this major has undertaken 3 NSFC projects, 4 projects of Guangdong Natural Science Foundation, and 1 provincial science and technology plan project. The employment rate of over 98% of the graduates has been kept.
