Welcome Ceremony and Exchange Meeting Held for German Exchange Student Delegation

On the afternoon of January 6, a welcome ceremony and exchange meeting for Berufsschule I Kempten was held in Room 1111 of Zhiyuan Building. There were seven members of the German delegation, all of whom attended the meeting. Mr. Sun Yong, President of the Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (SZIIT), and Vice President Xu Zhiliang attended the meeting. Leaders from SZIIT's Party Committee Publicity Department, League Committee, President's Office, Academic Affairs Office, Student Affairs Office, Sino-German School, and School of International Exchange and Cooperation, and the relevant members from the Sino-German School also attended the meeting. This is our first collaborative project with Berufsschule I Kempten after signing an agreement and commencing official cooperation. This is also our first two-week training and cultural exchange activity involving overseas students.

The meeting was chaired by Vice President Xu Zhiliang. The German teachers and students first watched an English promotional video to get the big picture of SZIIT. Then, President Sun Yong gave a welcome speech. He summarized SZIIT's advantages to the German delegation, which are "distinct characteristics, excellent capabilities, positive growth and strong competitiveness". He reviewed SZIIT's cooperation with Germany and in particular with Berufsschule I Kempten. He extended a warm welcome to the German delegation and sincerely wished them a pleasant time in Shenzhen. This training and exchange activity is of ground-breaking practical value and also of great significance. He looked forward to further exchanges and mutual learning so as to jointly improve and continue to promote vocational education and cooperation between China and Germany.

The German team leader, Mr. Schmid, spoke on behalf of the German delegation. He first gave sincere greetings from Mr. Denneborg (Head of Department, Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Germany) and Mr. Deniffel (President of Berufsschule I Kempten) to President Sun Yong. He then provided a profile of their college. On behalf of all the German members, he thanked us for our great reception and said that the cooperation between the two sides was successful and progressing smoothly. This exchange program is a new attempt and a good start for future cooperation.

Ms. Zhou Yanbing (President of the Sino-German School) discussed the arrangements for the Sino-German training and cultural exchange, including on-campus training, enterprise visits and cultural activities. The German delegation appreciated our thoughtful arrangements and expressed their sincere thanks.

Finally, President Sun Yong asked Mr. Schmid to convey his thanks and greetings to Mr. Denneborg and Mr. Deniffel. He also looked forward to the broad prospects of China-Germany cooperation and wished this exchange all the best. After the meeting, Mr. Sun Yong presented gifts to the German teachers and students and also took photos with them. The welcome ceremony and exchange meeting came to a successful end.
