SZIIT was invited to participate in the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference and co-host the World Vocational Education Industry-Education Integration Expo. President Wang Hui gave a keynote speech at the parallel forum.
The World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference was held in Tianjin during August 19 to 20. The theme of the conference was "Vocational and Technical Education Development in the Post-COVID Era: New Changes, New Approaches, New Skills". More than 700 delegates from 123 countries and regions around the world participated in the main forum online and offline to build a global partnership in vocational education and create a world-class international public product of industry-education cooperation. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Conference. Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, read out President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter and delivered a video message. Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education, delivered a keynote speech at the main forum of the conference.
14 parallel forums were set up for the conference. Professor Wang Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of SZIIT, attended the conference and gave a keynote speech entitled "Layered and Classified Industry-education Integration to Promote Reform and Innovation of Specialty Building" at the "Forum on Digital Transformation and Development of Vocational Education". He introduced the “3-Same” philosophy, which is always in the same direction with the Party's education policy, always sharing the same fate with the cause of reform and opening up of the SEZ, and always keep the same pace with the development of information technology. He highlighted the innovative practices of SZIIT around the "20+8" strategic emerging industries and future industries of Shenzhen, such as new generation information technology and advanced manufacturing. By reference to the successful experience of engineering education and "New Engineering Programs" in advanced countries around the world, and based on the high-level professional group, innovation harbor and electric industry institute under the "Double High Plan", SZIIT formed alliances with leading enterprises to build Huawei Kunpeng Engineering Ecosystem and Tencent College of Senior Engineers, create Industry College Version 2.0, and cultivate engineers with "strong foundation + project practice + quality empowerment" who could implement mixed solutions. He also introduced to the participants of the conference the beneficial exploration of Shenzhen higher vocational education institutions in building a new ecosystem of industry-education-research integration and creating a new paradigm of school-enterprise cooperation, and exchanged typical experiences of in-depth industry-education-research integration.
During the conference, the World Vocational Education Industry-Education Integration Expo, an important part of the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, was held concurrently. The theme of the expo is "Vigorously developing vocational education to meet the needs of new technologies and industrial changes", and it focused on creating a never-ending "expo on the cloud" on the "eight clouds". As one of the 13 organizers, SZIIT participated in the preparation and arrangement of exhibitions for the expo. During the expo, the online exhibition of "Strong Chip and Soul" (3D) and the school pavilion (2D) showed the new role of SZIIT in promoting technological self-sufficiency and domestic autonomous control by integrating and promoting industry-education-research integration, and the new role in leading the digital transformation and development of vocational colleges.
During the closing period of the conference, the initiative to prepare for the establishment of the World Alliance for the Development of Vocational and Technical Education and the Tianjin Initiative were released, calling for the formation of the World Alliance for the Development of Vocational and Technical Education to make greater contributions to the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. SZIIT is one of the initiating institutions, which fully reflects its advantages and development direction of running a school based on the Bay Area, serving Hong Kong and Macao, and steadfastly exploring an internationalization path.
